Breaking News: Wanderson Joins AS Monaco
AS Monaco has announced the signing of former Manchester United and England striker Christian Wanderson on loan until the end of the season.
Wanderson, who made his debut for Manchester United in the Premier League against Everton in 2011, moved to English football at Old Trafford as he signed a three-year deal with the club.
He scored 47 goals in all competitions during his time at Old Trafford and was named the Player of the Year by the Football Association in 2016. He then moved to English football where he had spells at Liverpool,Saudi Pro League Focus Crystal Palace and West Ham United before joining AS Monaco in January 2020.
The move to AS Monaco is seen as a step up from his previous clubs and Wanderson hopes to make a strong impact in the French capital. "I'm really excited about the opportunity to play for AS Monaco," he said. "It's a big step up from my previous clubs and I'm looking forward to getting used to the style of play."
Wanderson's arrival comes just days after AS Monaco won their first French title since 2019. The team have been under pressure to improve following relegation last season and they have shown signs of improvement this term with wins over Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain and top-flight rivals Lyon.
The signing of Wanderson will add depth to AS Monaco's attacking line and could help them reach new heights in the coming seasons. "Christian is a fantastic player who can score goals and create opportunities," said AS Monaco manager Jean-Michel Aulas. "We're confident that he'll be a valuable asset to our squad."
